One Day Multidisciplinary Conference
One day multidisciplinary conference for:
Original Research in Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Allied Health Professionals and Clinical Scientists.
The NIHR is investing in building a research culture in Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Allied Health Professionals and Clinical Scientists. There are now schemes funding streams of master’s programmes, PhD fellowships and Clinical Lectureships in these professions. At the present time there is no national, multiprofessional, high quality research meeting focused on original health research undertaken in these professions. Each of the individual professions has annual meetings, but there is variation in the extent that original research is presented. We believe as part of building a research environment and culture there is need to develop a high quality research forum.
A 1-day conference will provisionally be held on the Imperial College Hammersmith site after the end of the Christmas term 2010.
The aim of the conference will be to:
- Create a forum to communicate with Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Allied Health Professionals and Clinical Scientists who are research active or may wish to be research active
- Create a multidisciplinary environment for original research presentation to disseminate knowledge and share expertise
- Create an environment for young researchers to present initial findings from health service research
- To encourage interest in research from these professions
- To establish a method for the publication of research abstracts
The conference will highlight the value of quantitative and qualitative research and both clinical and service development research, and to establish the conference as an annual meeting.
