Myeloma

Dr Rahemtulla is in charge of the myeloma programme at  Hammersmith Hospital and has an interest in stem cell transplantation for the treatment of haematological malignancies.  The department is currently carrying out a Phase I clinical trial investigating the role of saporin conjugated monoclonal antibody (CD38) in the treatment of myeloma.  The department is also involved in an international Phase II/III study to investigate the proteasome inhibitor, PS341, in the treatment of myeloma.  Dr Rahemtulla’s  laboratory research interests include the pathogenesis of bone destruction in multiple myeloma and the role of apoptotic pathways in myeloma biology. 

His laboratory has investigated the prognostic significance of bone resorption and remodelling markers in patients with myeloma.
