Clinical Neuroscience

Clinical Neuroscience Research at Imperial College London

Our mission is to maximise interactions and collaborations between clinicians and basic neuroscience research workers. This will, in the future, provide the basis for the translation of novel discoveries to the bedside. In support of these goals we have successfully bid for two national brain tissue banks, one funded by the Parkinson’s Disease Society and the other by the Multiple Sclerosis Society.  We have also established the Computational and Cognitive Neuroimaging Laboratory.

The current research groupings are listed below and their main achievements and future plans detailed in their pages. Clinical neuroscience is multidisciplinary and clinicians need access to basic neuroscience and appropriate techniques and expertise. This requires, therefore, the input of scientists from diverse disciplines but with a common interest. These include not only those with biological expertise but also physical and mathematical scientists and engineers. An example of such linkage is the world class human brain imaging facilities available on the Hammersmith Campus at the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre and also the Clinical Imaging Centre (CIC).
