Ian Goodfellow from the Virology section in collaboration with CIPM Co-Investigators Alison Holmes, Lydia Drumright and Paul Aylin, has been awarded a BRC grant worth £308,953. The research, which will be supported by Laura Garcia Alvarez, will look at whether infection with norovirus results in an increased risk of C.difficile acquisition and vice versa, and also whether Norovirus and C.difficile co‐carriage results in the exacerbation of clinical disease.

This project aims to provide an unprecedented understanding of how norovirus or C. difficile
incidence affects relative susceptibility to the other, as well as transmissibility and persistence.
