Project Researchers
The Centre for Respiratory Infection, with collaborators in Liverpool, the HPA, NIMR, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Nottingham and Oxford, was awarded a £2.7M grant to better understand the development and spread of pandemic influenza H1N1. The Centre for Infection Prevention and Management is supporting the data-collection and analysis work-package of the project. This work-package involves undertaking coordinated intensive studies on a set of patients recruited primarily as a subset of a larger UK-wide multicentre hospital-based Clinical Information Network (CIN) established by the Department of Health, who have been admitted to hospital with confirmed influenza infection admitted to hospital with confirmed influenza infection and CIPM is responsible for developing innovative and sustainable uses of existing databases (FLU-CIN, FLU-WATCH) and for developing and extending the range, quality and sophistication of existing data collection
