The study will review the annual performance of the 5 UK AHSCs from April 2009 for the first 4 years of their authorisation measuring performance against closely matched organisations and examining the reasons underpinning differences in performance through an impact evaluation of the governance frameworks.
Ann will also test the impact of AHSC governance arrangements, and in particular analyse the effect of decentralised vs centralised structures, a control group.
Anne’s research into the organisational performance of Imperial College as an Academic Health Science Centre sits within work-stream 1 since its focus is organisational structures and practice. However it is also an example of the aims that work-stream 4, “Capacity Building” is pursuing in providing academic training to NHS managers and other professional groups who are instrumental to the task of tackling Healthcare Associated Infection.
Background
Anne is currently the Director of Corporate Affairs and Governance at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
