Tony Sewell is the Showcase Lead for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The aim of the Showcase programme is to identify which new technologies aimed at reducing HCAI, provide the best value and will have the most impact within NHS. Tony's role is to speed up the development and adoption of technologies to help combat Healthcare Acquired Infections, particularly MRSA and C. Difficile.  As such there are clear synergies with CIPM and he is collaborating with the Centre in work-stream 1, innovation adoption and behaviour change.

Tony began his career as a neonatal nurse and worked as an infection control nurse for six years following this. He was appointed in June 2008 as the Lead for the HCAI technology programme.  In this role he has collaborated to produce a national data collection process for the evaluation of the usability issues of new technologies. This is culminated in the HCAI report for each new technology evaluated providing an adoption process to enable proven technologies to be rolled out faster to front line of health care.

Tony has also recently completed a BSc Hons in Health Promotion which focused specifically at the processors of community mobilisation and how the principals for this relate to imbedding change into the acute NHS setting. A strong research element was associated to the degree in relation to public Health disease management. His current interests are those relating to organisation change and adoption of new technologies with a long term aim of moving to wider public health promotion and prevention programmes.
