Raunaque Hasnat is the CIPM Data Manager, working closely with Paul Aylin, Alison Holmes and Mike Catchpole. The research in this work-stream focuses specifically on using existing databases in the NHS, HPA and elsewhere to their fullest potential to improve early warning and risk prediction in the Trust.
The novel uses of such existing local databases will enhance surveillance capability of healthcare associated infections at an organisational level, and help develop predictive models to identify individual at risk patients.
The first stage of her work has involved reviewing and assessing the completeness and usefulness of the various data sources of surveillance. This data will then be cleansed and linked to local hospital datasets (patient records, microbiology lab data, pharmaceutical data, mortality data, primary care databases etc.) and national datasets including hospital episode data held by Dr Foster Intelligence, Office of National Statistics and the Health Protection Agency. In carrying out this work Jia has been liaising with collaborators in the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Infection and Prevention Control Service, the Imperial College Healthcare Trust Pharmacy Unit and the Health Protection Agency.
Background
Raunaque previously worked for Kings College London as a Database Manager and worked on two large scale epidemiological studies. She has held a position previously with Imperial College as a Data Manager and had responsibility for several different international research projects within the respiratory epidemiology group (e.g. GALEN2 , 1948 cohort,BOLD) where she was designed and developed research databases.
Raunaque has an MSc in Internet & Database Technology from London Southbank University.
