Ann Jacklin

 is a collaborator in work-stream 1, “embedding infection prevention within NHS organisational structures: innovation adoption and behaviour change”. Along with her colleague and fellow pharmacist Bryony Dean-Franklin, she is involved with the research looking at the application of behavioural sciences and social marketing to infection control and antibiotic prescribing behaviours.  She is therefore working closely with the Centre Pharmacist to investigate the drivers and barriers within target groups which have an impact on prescribing practices.

Ann Jacklin

Ann and her team in Pharmacy are also involved in those elements of work-stream 3, “infection surveillance”, which centre around evaluating systems to monitor antibiotic resistance and prescribing practice which will facilitate the investigation of antibiotic strategies across primary and acute care.

She has also been heavily involved in work-stream 4, “capacity building” and as joint course director has been a key member of the management committee for the MSc in Infection Prevention for Pharmacists, which part of the CIPM education portfolio.  She is also a member of the Centre’s Operations Committee.

 Background

Ann Jacklin is Chief Pharmacist at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the Chief of Service for Pharmacy & Therapies.  She is a visiting Professor at the School of Pharmacy (SOP) University of London and an Honorary Clinical Teacher for Imperial College School of Medicine.

Her specific areas of interest include the Impact of medicine automation on safety and efficiency, developing the roles of pharmacists and improving the use of anti-infective agents.

 In 2000 she initiated the formation of the Centre for Medicines Safety and Service Quality (previously known as the Academic Pharmacy Unit) - a joint research centre between Hammersmith and SOP; she has been joint Chair of the centre since this time.
