Postgraduate Certificate
Transmission of infection
There are three core modules which must be successfully completed to graduate with a PG Cert in Infection.
Introduction to Infection in Modern Society
The aim of this module is to give students a solid grounding in the basics of infection. This includes an introduction to the topic of Infectious Diseases and the main players in this, both in the UK and worldwide, an understanding of pathogens and resulting infections, the immune system and anti-infective therapy.

Management of Major Clinical Syndromes
This module aims to give students an overview of the major infectious diseases which are seen in our healthcare system. Students will cover a range of diseases and pathogens and discuss clinical presentation and management as well as the implications for contrl of spread of infection.

Control of Infection
Students who complete this module will gain an overview of the major Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI), the methods involved in the prevention of these HCAI and the surveillance of HCAI at a national level.

Postgraduate Diploma
There are two further core modules to be completed for the PG Dip along with an options module.
Research Design and Epidemiology
The aim of this module is to give students a solid grounding in epidemiology, study designs, applied statistical methods and data presentation.

Organisational Healthcare Management
This module aims to give students a basic understnading of the concepts of leadership and management within the context of the healthcare environment.

Options Module
This module allows students to choose from a series of options, modules from related MSc courses within Imperial College which will be suited to their workplace. Options modules include selected modules from the MSc in Quality and Safety in Healthcare, from the School of Professional Development, the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine and the MEd in Surgical Education
MSc
To complete the MSc students must complete an individual Research Projects, which you will be expected to have identified by mid-way through your first year. You will be able to choose, in consultation with your project supervisor, any other area of the course in which you are interested. A list of sample titles is available on request. Research will be carried out at your base site or at Imperial College, Hammersmith Campus.
Stand-Alone Modules
All the module mentioned above can be attended as Stand-Alone Modules with an optional assessment. These modules are booked through the School of Professional Development.
