Objectives
- enable basic and clinical research to be undertaken into the aetiology of tissue damage, repair and regeneration especially with regard to rheumatoid and osteoarthritis
- develop preventative and therapeutic interventions as well as diagnostic methods
- collaborate with the industrial, university and health service sectors in the innovation and improvement of healthcare to patients
- bring a multi-disciplinary approach using state-of-the-art services to bear on many aspects of a disease at once
- for Institute to maintain a critical mass and remain an international centre of excellence for research, training and teaching
- provide the individual scientist with a stimulating environment
