1st Annual CRI Symposium 2009
The Centre held its First Annual Research Symposium on 11th March 2009 in the NHLI Education Centre at the Royal Brompton campus. The meeting was attended by around 100 researchers from the Centre. The meeting focused on promoting the work of junior researchers from with oral presentations and posters from across the Centre's four basic themes and with a mix of basic science and clinical work.
Prizes were award for the best presentations to Dr Karen Buckland, Leukocyte Biology (Influenza infection in naïve mice reduces the response to subsequent allergen challenge) and
Dr Nathan Bartlett , Respiratory Infections (Rhinovirus induced transcription factor activation in the lung: linking IFN deficiency and T cell recruitment in asthma) and for the best poster to
Dr Gary McLean, Respiratory Infections (Allergic responses to human rhinoviruses in a mouse model). The prizes were presented by the Chair of the Centre's International Scientific Advisory Board, Professor Pat Troop.
