CPSSQ Patient Representatives

Jill Lloyd
I am a physiotherapist and have spent many years working in the NHS. I worked mainly with rheumatology and orthopaedic patients in both inpatient and out patient settings. Latterly I was employed at Brunel University teaching undergraduate physiotherapy students and managing the clinical practice educational programme. I have also worked with Rheumatology in Europe organisation. I have published in peer reviewed journals and a physiotherapy textbook.
My new role in CPSSQ involves a lot of learning! I attend and contribute to regular meetings. Currently I am available to comment on potential future projects and maybe suggest possible methods of patient inclusion at design as well as implementation stages. As the position develops there may be an opportunity to become more involved in projects including, perhaps, some data collection.
Yasmin Alibhai-Brown

I am a weekly newspaper columnist with the Independent, a broadcaster, author and diversity and inclusion advisor in both the public and private sectors. I have worked for several reputable think tanks where I carried out qualitative research and produced reports.
This role is evolving and I am feeling my way. But with substantial experience in both writing about exclusion and inclusion and helping implement relevant policies, I am available to comment on project proposals and papers and advise on these aspects and the related fields of patient awareness, communications, follow up etc. Previous definitions of ‘professionalism’ are having to be rethought and rerouted as patient expectations, perceptions and knowledge have changed so much. As a journalist and frequent user of the service, I can help advise on these aspects too.
