First Prize for BSc Student from the Royal Society of Medicine

Andre Chow, a final year student in the School of Medicine, took the Royal Society of Medicine award for the most outstanding student for the year 2002-2003. This award was made for his project for the BSc in Surgery and Anaesthesia, one of the BScs run by the School, which students take alongside their MBBS qualification.

His presentation at Student Research Presentation Prize Evening, held on Friday 14th November, was entitled "The combined effects of xenon and hypothermia on an in vitro model of neuronal injury".

Andre received his prize on 10 December 2003 and is the second student from the School of Medicine to win this award - Adam Hill won the prize in 2001.
