Dr Alexandra Adams
Dr Alex Adams is a Paediatric Respiratory specialist and is currently the Asthma Clinical Research Fellow at The Royal Brompton Hospital. She is studying for an MD(Res) in the National Heart and Lung Institute looking at the role of the IL-17 family of cytokines in severe therapy resistant asthma in children.
Alex studied medicine as an undergraduate at University College London and graduated with a Distinction in Medicine in her final MBBS exams. On completion of her house jobs Alex entered the London Paediatric Senior House Officer rotation. At the end of her SHO rotation Alex went to work in Australia for the Newborn Emergency Transport Service based in Melbourne.
On returning to the UK she worked at The Royal Alexandra Hospital in Brighton as a clinical lecturer in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine. It was during this job that she confirmed her interest in respiratory medicine. As a Registrar in respiratory medicine Alex worked at The Royal Brompton Hospital and Kings College Hospital where she completed her training prior to returning to The Royal Brompton Hospital and the NHLI to undertake her MD(Res).
