My principal interests are biological applications of NMR spectroscopy and mathematical modelling.
Currently I am working as a Research Associate on the metabonomics workpackage of the EU FP6 Molecular Phenotyping to Accelerate Genomic Epidemiology (MolPAGE) project. The MolPAGE consortium is a large-scale EU-funded study that seeks to identify molecular phenotypic markers of disease that can then be used to facilitate identification, risk, progression and response to therapy of some of the major diseases prevalent in the EU today, such as type II diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Other current research activities include: NMR-based metabonomic investigation of seminal fluid from men with spinal cord injury (SCI) (collaboration with Stanmore Hospital); Development of novel visualisation and projection methods for enhanced information recovery from diffusion-ordered NMR data; and NMR-based metabonomic characterisation of subtypes of renal Fanconi syndrome in humans.
Previously I studied at the University of Sydney where I completed a doctorate in multinuclear NMR and mathematical modelling of the Gardos effect in human erythrocytes.
