Miss Anta Ngkelo

Miss Anta Ngkelo is doing her PhD in the group of Molecular Cell Biology with Professor Ian M Adcock at the National Heart and Lung Institute.

She graduated from University of Liverpool with a first class BSc in Genetics (Hons) in 2008. She spent her Honours year investigating the epigenetic regulation of p53 in lung cancer at the Roy Castle Foundation in Liverpool, where she developed an interest in investigating the potential role of epigenetics in disease therapy.

In 2009 she was awarded a CASE PhD Studentship from Imperial College and Pfizer. Her PhD focuses on investigating the role of the PI3K signalling pathway in driving corticosteroid insensitivity documented in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Anta Ngkelo is currently a member of NHLI Postgraduate Research Student Committee.
