Dr Anatole Wiik
Anatole Wiik studied Medicine at the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Trinidad, graduating in June 2010. While at UWI, Anatole attained MBBS(Hons) and BMedSci(Hons) Degrees. He graduated as the top student of the 138 candidates that took the Final MBBS Exams in June 2010. As a result he received numerous awards for his accomplishments. He received the Dean's Award for the Best Student for his/her 5 year tenure. The Sir Harry Annamunthodo Prize, which is the prize given to the best surgical student. He also won the prestigious Gold Medal in Surgery which is the award given to the best student in Surgery throughout the 4 campuses of UWI in the Caribbean, entailing 270+ candidates.
Research
Following his recent success he headed to Imperial College to undertake research with Prof. Cobb. Anatole's major interests are surgery and musculoskeletal system. Amidst his interests his current research is on an instrumented treadmill for analysis of gait and function. He hopes to help create a practical and objective way of assessing the hip and the knee joints.
Education
Anatole also has a background in Chemistry, attaining a BSc in Wisconsin, USA.
External Interests
He currently assists with the teaching of the medical students at Imperial College in the Musculoskeletal Department.
