Miss Aarti Shah

Aarti Shah is a PhD student within the Cardiovascular Sciences group at the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI).

Prior to studying at Imperial, Aarti graduated from the University of Bath in 2010 with a BSc (Hons) in Biology. During her degree she also completed a one year industrial placement at GlaxoSmithKline (Ware,UK), where she worked in the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics Department, researching drug-drug interactions through calculation of P-glycoprotein inhibition IC50s.

In 2010, she was awarded an NHLI Foundation 1+3 Studentship, with which she undertook the Masters in Biomedical Research at Imperial College London. Aarti started her PhD in October 2011 under the supervision of Dr. Anna Randi. Her current research area is identifying novel pathways mediating the role of the transcription factor Erg in endothelial homeostasis and angiogenesis, with a view to therapeutic target identification.
