Alex Badamchi is a Wellcome Trust funded PhD student working within Professor Robin Shattock’s mucosal vaccinology team in the Department of Medicine at St. Mary's Hospital, London.

His research centres on the development of vaccine candidates against Chlamydia trachomatis, in particular DNA, Adenovirus, modified Vaccinia Ankara and protein based vaccines. Their efficacy will be investigated through heterogeneous prime boost studies.

Alex was awarded a BA (Hons) in Biological Sciences from Christ Church, University of Oxford (2009) under the supervision of Professor Sarah Randolph. Following research on Anopheles gambiae odorant receptor evolution at Texas A&M University under the supervision of Dr. Michel Slotman (2009), Alex was awarded a studentship on the Wellcome Trust 4-Year PhD Training Programme in the Molecular & Cellular Basis of Infection at Imperial College London (2010). Alex received his MRes in the Molecular and Cellular Basis of Infection in 2011.
