BACKGROUND
I obtained my BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Durham in July 2003. Having completed my final year dissertation on microarray technology, I decided to further my interest in the analysis of data generated by various 'omics methods by pursuing a MSc in Bioinformatics.
I spent 6 months undertaking my master's research project at Cancer Research UK, and just completed in September 2004. The MSc was mainly computer based, so I wanted to gain expertise in the practical side of the methods whose data I was analysing; so decided to undertake a research project to further my laboratory and analytical skills to gain better understanding.
PROJECT TITLE
Integrated transcriptomic and metabonomic analysis of Differential Ageing models.
Supervisors: Professor Jeremy Nicholson, Dr Richard Barton (Postdoctoral Mentor), Professor Dominic Withers (External Mentor).
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:
- PRESENTATIONS
- Young Bioinformatician's Forum (20/10/04) - presented poster of MSc research project.
