Dr Anna Thompson is a Post-doctoral Research Associate in the Molecular Genetics and Genomics Group at the National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College. She is currently investigating genome wide expression profiles of muscle biopsies from patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to identify genes and pathways of relevance to disease aetiology.
Dr Thompson studied genetics at Cardiff University and completed her PhD in liver molecular genetics at King’s College London, in 2009. Her PhD studies investigated the genetic basis of Microvillous Atrophy, and the regulation of ATP8B1, mutations in which cause forms of Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis Type 1 disease.
