Annick Borquez

I am a PhD student at the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the School of Public Health.

I undertook my undergraduate studies at the Université Claude Bernard in Lyon and continued at the University of Edinburgh where I specialised in medical microbiology. I then did a masters in modern epidemiology at Imperial College.

I am interested in health issues among deprived and marginalised populations. In particular my PhD focuses on the spread of HIV among key populations in Latin America and it mainly involves developing mathematical models of HIV transmission to better understand its dynamics and guide prevention programmes. I have been studying the HIV epidemic among prison inmates in Peru and have been investigating the potential impact of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis among men who have sex with men in Lima.

My supervisors are Dr. Tim Hallett and Prof. Geoff Garnett.
