Ms Antonia Booth

Antonia Booth is a PhD student in the Membrane Traffic research group, Molecular Medicine, National Heart and Lung Institute.

Antonia undertook her undergraduate studies at Bristol University where she graduated with an Upper Second Class BSc Hons in Biochemistry with a Year in Industry.  She undertook her industrial placement at the Genetic Toxicology Department of GlaxoSmithKline in Ware, UK.  Her final year project was entitled: ‘Characterisation of a Conformational Change That Couples the ATP Binding Site of SecA to the Protein Channel SecY’.

In 2007, she was awarded a 1 + 3 BBSRC Studentship with which she undertook the MRes in Biomedical Research.  She was awarded her MRes with Distinction and moved onto her PhD position in NHLI in October 2008, under the supervision of Professor Miguel Seabra.

For her PhD, Antonia is studying the Molecular Mechanism of RabGTPase Membrane Targeting.
