Dr Ayodele Kazeem
I like to think of myself as a clinician with special interest in health management and technology. My skills/resource bank includes experience in developing and developed country setting with formal educational degrees and less formal training programmes designed to improve health system-wide outcomes.
As a PhD student at the School of Publich Health, Department of Primary Care and Public Health, i get the opportunity to immerse myself in cutting edge research that is relevant to global health issues. The eHealth Unit consists of highly motivated academic, research, teaching staff and students. The diversity and multi-disciplinary nature of the team aims to provide a comprehensive evaluation of eHealth technologies and services. Our objectives include to establish a strong evidence base for the effective and safe use of eHealth technologies and to conduct first class primary research to understand the social and organisational aspects of eHealth implementation.
I also work with the local Primary Care Trust (PCT), now referred to as Inner North-West London sub-cluster of PCTs (Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster). My role as an Information Governance specialist aims to deliver programmes geared to maintaining the confidentiality and security of person identifiable data in line with the NHS Care Records Guarantee and related Data Protection legislation. This allows me to use research and contribute to policy as well as teaching, supervision and external collaborations across North-West London.
Education
My education began with an MBBS at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria afterwhich i enrolled unto the MSc International Health Mangement at Imperial College Business School.I am currently engaged in a PhD at Imperial College, London with a focus on telephone consultations in healthcare.
Research
I am currenlty involved in the writing of a number of systematic reviews on areas in health including alcohol and telephone consultations; as well as other projects aimed at improving public health. My role in the strategic direction of the NHS Information Governance agenda aims to integrate and promote efficient information use in health to serve the public, healthcare professionals and the related health and social care organisations.
Asides the effective implementation of eHealth solutions, my current research interests include leadership in clinical practive, patient-related outcomes and implementation relevant research into practice. My fellowship with Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) in North-West London aims to close the second translational gap for research and implement telephone triage in Primary Care using quality improvement methods.
Teaching
I am involved in teaching sessions at the Primary Care Trust.
Collaboration
Whilst at the Business School, i set-up the "Medics at Imperial College" club. The primary objective to collaborate with medics on various postgraduate courses to find common goals and network with professional in the field. We organised a seminar which was a first at the school and was attended by present students, alumni and Professionals unrelated to the college alike.
I am happy to discuss with Medical Doctors who are keen to take on more formal management careers outside of clinical care and link them up with individuals who have similar stories or can give useful advice.
On a lighter note
I enjoy playing snooker and football and spend a considerable amount of time on my computer.
