Dr Chris Cantwell
Dr Chris Cantwell is a research fellow funded through the British Heart Foundation. His primary interest is in constructing numerical models of organ-scale cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac conduction for aiding clinical intervention and treatment planning. His current interest is in developing techniques for the rapid collection and integration of intracardiac electrogram signals into numerical models.
He is also interested in high-order methods and their implementation, and is a leading member of the team developing Nektar++ -- a toolkit for solving partial differential equations using the spectral/hp element method -- and applying these techniques to both problems in electrophysiology and fluid dynamics.
Dr Cantwell obtained a First Class honours degree in Mathematics at the University of Warwick in 2005. He subsequently completed an MSc and PhD in Scientific Computing at the University of Warwick's Centre for Scientific Computing, studying the transient growth of small disturbances to fluid flow in a linearly stable regime. After an 18-month post-doctoral position in the CardioMath group at Imperial College London, he was awarded a 3-year Advanced Training Award from the BHF.
