Dr Charlotte Dean

Dr Charlotte Dean is Lecturer within the Leukocyte Biology section, National Heart and Lung Institue, Imperial College London, heading the Lung Development and Disease group.

She undertook her postdoctoral studies with Richard Lang at NYU, New York and then with Lee Niswander at the Sloan-Kettering Institute, New York, studying the mechanisms of branching morphogenesis in lung and lacrimal gland.

In 2004, Dr Dean returned to the UK to work at MRC Harwell as an independent post-doctoral fellow funded by the Sandler programme for asthma research continuing studies on lung development and the parallels with lung disease (particularly lung fibrosis and asthma). In 2005 Charlotte was awarded a British Lung Foundation fellowship and appointed as a junior programme leader in lung development and disease at MRC Harwell.

Charlotte was awarded an Imperial College Lectureship in 2011. Her group will continue to focus on the mechanisms of lung development and disease. She also retains an honorary programme leader position at MRC Harwell.
