Dr Claudio Mauro

I completed my PhD in Molecular Oncology and Endocrinology at the University of Naples "Federico II" (Italy), where I worked on the mechanisms of NF-κB/Rel transcription factors activation and their role in tumourigenesis.

Since then I focused my efforts towards studying the control of metabolic and inflammatory circuitries by NF-κB and the relevance of such control to the pathogenesis of inflammation-driven metabolic disease such as cancer, diabetes and atherosclerosis.

My hope is to gain the knowledge of basic principles in the NF-κB biology which could lead to the development of novel effective drugs against widespread inflammation-driven metabolic disease in humans.
