Ms Carmen Tsang
I am a research assistant at the Dr Foster Unit, working under the remit of the Imperial Centre for Patient Safety and Service Quality (CPSSQ).
The main focus of my research is the use of routinely collected data for improving patient safety. I am also a part-time PhD student within the Department of Primary Care and Public Health, supervised by Dr Paul Aylin and Professor Azeem Majeed. My doctoral research examines the design and implementation of patient safety indicators in English general practice.
I have previously worked at the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD), as a research assistant on projects investigating the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms and the quality of care received by patients admitted to hospital as emergencies.
I graduated from Newcastle University with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and gained a MSc in Mental Health Services Research from the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London, supported by a Medical Research Council Advanced course Masters studentship.
My research interests include measurement methods, service use by ethnic minority groups, and psychiatric epidemiology.
