Miss Catherine Mansfield
Catherine Mansfield is currently a postgraduate research student in the Molecular Medicine section of the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London.
Catherine graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2007 with a BSc in Physiology and Pharmacology. In 2007 she moved to Imperial College to study for her Masters degree in Integrative Mammalian Biology where she completed a research project looking at acute heart failure induced by sudden emotional or physical stress. For her Masters project she was awarded the Astrazeneca Prize for Science Communication.
In 2008 she was awarded an NHLI Foundation studentship and is now a PhD student in the lab of Professor Mike Ferenczi, where she is researching the mechanics and energetics of cardiac muscle and the mechanism of the Frank-Starling Law of the heart.
