Dr Ching-Hsin Ku
Ching-Hsin Ku is a Research Associate at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London.
Dr Ku received her MSc in Microbiology (1994) from National Taiwan University (NTU), Taiwan. From 1994 to 1996, she joined the Division of Chemistry, Institute of Oceanography, NTU to investigate the flux of biologically fixed nitrogen. From 1996 to 1997, she was a research visitor in the Department of Materials, Queen Mary, University of London, investigating the functional gradient biomaterials based on Ti/Hydroxyapatite.
In 2002 she received her PhD in Bioengineering from the Department of Materials, University of Southampton. Her PhD studies included a one year research exchange at the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.
From 2002 to 2005, she joined the Tissue Engineering group at the Harefield Heart Science Centre, Imperial College London as a postdoctoral research associate to investigate aortic valve tissue engineering. From 2005 to 2008, she joined Cardiovascular Division, King’s College London as a postdoctoral research associate on a project to investigate of over-expression of podocyte sFlt-1 in a model of glomerulopathy in diabetec mice.
In 2010, she returned to NHLI, Imperial College London and joined the Myocardial Genetics group in her current role as a postdoctoral research associate to investigate the role of plakophilin‐2 (PKP2) mutation in the development of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC).
