Mrs Elizabeth Limb
I am a statistician with many years experience working in Public Health and Epidemiology, with a particular interest in Respiratory Epidemiology.
I am currently working on the Global Burden of Disease Project with Professor Burney and Dr Jarvis. This is an international collaborative project to estimate the burden of many different diseases across the world. Our group is concerned with Chronic Lower Respiratory Disease, and I am carrying out a systematic review of the prevalence of adult asthma, whilst my colleague Ramyani Gupta is covering COPD.
I came into Medical Statistics after doing a Maths degree at Exeter University followed by a MSc in Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I then worked for the Medical Research Council in Cardiff for three years before moving to London to work at St George's University of London.
I worked at St George's for a number of years on many projects, most recently co-running the Lung and Asthma Information Agency. This work involved collating information and data on trends and patterns in respiratory disease from a variety of sources including hospital admission records, mortality records and GP consultations. Jsing these data we produced a variety of output as a source of information to other health professionals working in the respiratory field. I also contributed to a number of commissioned reports including "The Burden of Lung Disease II" for the British Thoracic Society.
Away from work, I am a experienced amateur singer and a member of the Vasari Singers, a well-known London based chamber choir.
