Dr Ernest Turro

I previously worked in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics under the supervision of Alex Lewin and Sylvia Richardson. My work focused on the development of statistical methodology for analysing expression microarray and high-throughput RNA sequencing data.

I also worked with Paul Elliott, John C Chambers and Jaspal S Kooner of the NHLI on characterising genetic variation among Indian Asians using high-throughput DNA sequencing technology.

Currently, I am a research associate in the Computational Biology Group at the University of Cambridge, which is led by Simon Tavaré.

I maintain an honorary position at Imperial College as I continue to collaborate with Alex Lewin, Sylvia Richardson and Robert White.

I am the lead author of the following software packages:

  • MMSEQ - software for haplotype and isoform specific expression estimation using multi-mapping RNA-seq reads.
  • MMBGX - a method for estimating expression at the isoform level and detecting differential splicing using whole-transcript Affymetrix arrays.
  • BGX - a Bioconductor package for the Bayesian integrated analysis of Affymetrix GeneChips.
