Miss Evie Maifoshie
Evie Maifoshie is a PhD student working under the supervision of Professor Michael Schneider, Professor Sian Harding and Dr Vania Braga at the National Heart and Lung Institute.
Evie undertook her undergraduate studies at Cardiff University with an industrial placement year at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM) in Oxford. Her undergraduate thesis involved a phenotypic comparison of two K-ras knockdown animal models of colon cancer, under the supervision of Professor Alan Clarke.
In 2008, she was awarded a 4-year studentship funded by the MRC at Imperial and undertook the MRes in Biomedical Research which she was awarded with distinction. She started her PhD in October 2009 and her project involves the use of human embryonic stem cells as a drug development platform for studying cell death signalling mechanisms in cardiomyocytes.
