Dr Georgios Giamas
Biography
Dr Georgios Giamas is a Junior Research Fellow in the department of Surgery and Cancer.
Dr Giamas obtained his Biology degree (BSc) at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece. He then undertook his Doctoral degree (PhD), and 9 months postdoctoral work, at the University of Ulm in Germany investigating the role and consequences of site specific phosphorylation of casein kinase 1δ (CK1δ) in regulating its transforming activity. In 2007 he moved to Imperial College London as a Research Associate working with Professor Justin Stebbing.
Dr Giamas’s group is focused on breast cancer researchand more particularly in identifying novel kinases that are able to regulate the Estrogen Receptor α and in addition trying to decipher the molecular mechanisms by which endocrine resistance arises.
