Mr Harpal Kalsi
Harpal Kalsi is a PhD student within the Clinical Research group, National Heart and Lung Institute.
Harpal undertook his undergraduate studies at the University of Greenwich and was awarded his BSc Exercise Physiology and Nutrition in 2003. He then undertook an MSc Exercise and Behavioural Medicine, which he was awarded with Merit from Thames Valley University. He has extensive training in his field, including a Diploma in Sports Therapy, Diploma in Sports Injury, Sports Massage Certificate, Sports First Aid Certificate, Basic Certificate in the Treatment and Management of Injuries, Intermediate Certificate in the Treatment and Management of Injuries (North Birmingham College). He was also awarded a Diploma in Health and Fitness (Bolton) including Basic Gym Instruction, Senior and Leadership Instruction, Free Weight Exercise, Personal Training, Peak Performance, Focus Training and Assessment.
Prior to undertaking his PhD at Imperial, Harpal held a number of positions within the NHS, including Senior Clinical Respiratory Physiologist at both Barts and The Royal London NHS Trust and at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust. He also worked as a Clinical Respiratory Physiologist at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust.
For his PhD, under the supervision of Dr Omar Usmani, Harpal is assessing the deposition effects of polydisperse and monodisperse inhaled therapy in the lungs and oropharynx in obstructive lung disease.
