I am a research assistant in the Department of Anaesthetics, Pain Medicine & Intensive Care. My research interests are in organo-protection, especially renal graft protection during and after kidney transplantation. End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is the terminal phase of progressive impairment of exocrine and endocrine functions of the kidney. The current clinical management of end-stage renal disease is frustrating and most patients are unresponsive to available treatment. As a mainstream therapeutic method, kidney transplantation has drastically transformed the health quality of patients suffering from end-stage renal failure. Success in this routine surgical practice is promoted by refinement in kidney preservation, improvement in peri-operative care and introduction of immuno-suppressive medication. However, the long-term outcome of the transplanted kidney is still far from ideal. A high priority in kidney transplantation research, therefore, lies in the development of reno-protective strategy, which confers a long-term benefit in graft survival.

I have been working in developing a de novo organo-protective strategy against early graft injury and later graft lost.
