Dr Hazel Jones
Hazel Jones is a Research Fellow in the Clinical Trials group currently undertaking studies into the effects of smoking on mild asthma sufferers. Her area of expertise lies in the development of PET imaging in respiratory disease.
Her research involves identifying targets of interest, and developing markers to identify cell types or biochemical processes. In vivo scanning studies are carried out on models of lung disease and validated using in vitro and ex vivo techniques. Once validated human subjects and patients with lung disease are studied to investigate the natural history of disease and to assess the efficacy of therapeutic intervention.
In conjunction with her scientific research, she supports the senior staff of the Section in their work.
