Mr Igor Wei
I am a Research Assistant at the Centre for Patient Safety and Service Quality (CPSSQ) based at St. Mary's Campus having moved here from my previous position at the Department of Primary Care and Public Health's (PCPH) Research Design Service and Global eHealth Unit.
My current work with Dr Jonathan Benn focuses on developing metrics and design a system to improve anaesthetic care quality provided locally at St. Mary's Hospital with a view towards rolling the scheme out on a larger scale. As part of this, I work closely with anaesthetists and recovery nurses on process mapping, data collection and analysis, development of sustainable processes and dissemination. An additional aspect of the project involves improving theatre efficiency and perioperative work flow, which is achieved through monitoring of patient transfer delays and reasons for delay. This work is part-funded by the NIHR CLAHRC programme and has received endorsements from national bodies, such as the RCoA, AAGBI and NIAA.
I have presented posters on this work at the Patient Safety Congress and Association for Perioperative Practice in the last 6 months and further publications are planned as the project progresses.
I remain a collaborator with the PCPH eHealth Unit, and am currently authoring several systematic reviews on the role of computer-assisted technology in the management of chronic disease; protocols of which have already been published with the Cochrane Collaboration.
Outside of my research commitments, I have also taught part of the module on Systematic Reviews of the Master of Public Health and MSc in Quality and Safety in Healthcare courses. Pleae contact me if you are interested in learning more about Systematic Reviews and Literature searching.
