Dr Ivan Yap
A. Personal Statement:
I am currently the analytical chemist and chemometrician for the INTERMAP metabolomics program investigating the relationship between urinary metabolite patterns with blood pressure (BP). I work closely with PIs (Professor Nicholson, Professor Holmes and Professor Elliot) and my responsibilities include data management, analyzing complex urinary NMR spectra, relate urinary NMR data with nutritional and demographic data using chemometrics, interpretation, and report writing. I have been working with INTERMAP London Coordinating Centre under the leadership of Professor Elliot since 2005. I have 8 years experience managing, analyzing and interpreting metabonomics data from various studies. I contribute to numerous projects spanning a diverse range of application areas including cardiovascular and nutritional epidemiology, inborn errors of metabolism, parasitology and has acquired expertise in multivariate statistical analysis. I am a co-investigator in the Australian Rotary Health: Autism Grant (A$35,684.00). I have also developed a network of collaborations both within Imperial College (Neonatal Medicine Department) and with external groups including Canterbury Christ Church University (UK) and University of South Australia.
