Miss Janine Beale
Janine Beale is a PhD student in the Respiratory Infections Section, Department of Respiratory Medicine within the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI).
Prior to commencing her PhD, she worked as a research technician at the Heart Science Centre in Harefield, Imperial College London. She completed her Bachelor of Sciences, Honours and Masters degree at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Her Honours and Masters was funded by several scholarships and focussed on the characterisation of occupational allergens.
Janine was awarded a National Heart and Lung Institute Foundation studentship in October 2009 and commenced her research investigating the role of IL-25 in rhinovirus induced exacerbation of asthma. This work is aimed at ultimately developing potential novel therapies for this complex disease.
