Mr Jonathan S Dodd
Jonathan Dodd is a senior research technician working in the Centre for Respiratory Infection and the Viral Immunology research group, National Heart and Lung Institute.
He studied for his undergraduate degree in Medical Microbiology at University College London, graduating in 1996. He then worked for 3 years at the National Institute of Medical Research under Dr David Brian Thomas studying the effect of host genetics on CD4 T cell responses to influenza infection.
He moved to Imperial College in January 2000, working for Professor Peter Openshaw as a research assistant in the department of Respiratory Medicine.
From 2000-2004 his research focussed on the importance of γδ T cells in protective immunity to respiratory viral infection. From 2004-2009 he worked as a laboratory manager in the same department. In that time he investigated the effect of IL-9 on Th2 CD4 T cell responses to respiratory viral infection. In November 2009 he took his current position as senior research technician.
He is currently studying for a PhD focussing on the role of IL-21 in controlling T cell responses to respiratory viral infection. In separate studies he is also investigating the effects of lung NKT cells on immunity to respiratory viral infection.
