Her laboratory based research led to the discovery of anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies (ASCA) in patients with Crohn’s disease.
Currently she is involved in the care of inpatients and outpatients with a wide range of medical problems including HIV and viral hepatitis.
Dr Main works closely with the medical microbiologists, chairs the Trust Antimicrobial Review Group and has helped develop an outpatient antimicrobial service which facilitates early discharge for patients requiring intravenous antimicrobial therapy.
