Dr Jan H von der Thusen

Jan von der Thüsen is Honorary Senior Lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute and Consultant Histopathologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

Dr von der Thüsen's clinical expertise includes neoplastic and non-neoplastic thoracic pathology, and his research interest is focused on tissue plasticity in these diseases.

He holds an MA from Cambridge University and qualified from Imperial College Medical School in 1996. He obtained a PhD at Leiden University as an MD/PhD student on the Molecular Cardiology Programme of the Netherlands Heart Foundation and trained as a pathologist at Leiden University Medical Centre in The Netherlands. He was awarded personal grants by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (VENI grant) and the Netherlands Heart Foundation.

Subsequently, he worked as a consultant histopathologist at the Academic Medical Centre (AMC) in Amsterdam until his appointment at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
