Dr Kenji Wakabayashi
Dr Kenji Wakabayashi is a clinician scientist with a background in Paediatrics. He received his MD from Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 2002 and following the clinical training in Paediatrics in Japan, he joined Imperial in 2007.
He is a member of the Critical Care Research group at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and currently undertaking a PhD. In his PhD project, he pursued the pathophysiology and basic mechanisms of acute lung injury (ALI). He is now expanding his perspective to the therapeutic aspects, and paricularly interested in the novel therapeutic approach for acid aspiration induced lung injury, which is a major issue in the ICU setting.
He also plays an important role as a site/personal tutor in the highly popular internatonal exchange programme between Imperial and Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
