Welcome!
I am doctoral researcher in the Health Services Research Unit (HSRU) and the Country Coordinator for England for the ‘Deepening our understanding of quality improvement in Europe (DUQuE)’. I am focusing on policy and health management issues at both national and international levels.
Doctoral research
“All you need to know...
is that it's possible.”
I am on a mission, searching for possibilities to bring improved health care to everybody. With my background in business management and finance, I am focusing on quality improvement and financing in health systems.
There is a chiasm between the healthcare that is achievable and that which is actually delivered to patients (with the same resources). My main research interest is incentivising health systems, institutions and health workers to bring about improvements in quality of healthcare delivered and use of limited resources.
My doctoral thesis is on pay-for-performance schemes for hospitals, with a special focus on ‘Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) payment framework’, an innovative pay-for-performance scheme in England.
‘Deepening our understanding of quality improvement in Europe (DUQuE)’
DUQuE is a European research project funded by the EU 7th Research Framework Programme studying the effectiveness of quality improvement systems in European hospitals. Eight countries are participating in the project: Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Turkey.
As the Country Coordinator for England, I work with Dr Foster Intelligence, the DUQuE Consortium. I manage relationships with senior hospital management and academic researchers from a variety of health related fields. I also offer on-going support to hospitals participating in the project.
