I graduated from Sheffield University with a BSc in Pharmacology/Physiology after which I worked at Pfizer as a GPCR pharmacologist in the Sexual Health Therapeutic area. In 2004 I joined the biological chemistry group as a postgraduate.
PhD project: "An NMR based metabonomic approach to investigate the biochemical consequences of sexual dimorphic differences in humans and their roles in women’s health."
Aims - my overall objective is to apply metabonomic technology to the exploration of sexual dimorphism in relation to health using urine samples collected from humans. Using NMR spectroscopy and pattern recognition identify sexually dimorphic metabolites and establish their normal relationship with the sex hormones. Establish the relationship between variation of these metabolites and sexually dimorphic diseases such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease etc.
