Dr Maria Ahmed
Maria graduated from the University of Manchester with an Honours Medical degree and a Masters in Population Health Evidence as part of a Health Foundation Student Research Fellowship. She completed her Foundation Training in the North Western Deanery and is currently a Clinical Research Fellow at the Centre for Patient Safety and Service Quality, Imperial College London. Her PhD Thesis is entitled ‘The role of education and training in improving quality and safety’ for which she is conducting a number of studies employing both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Of note she has led the award-winning ‘Lessons Learnt: Building a Safer Foundation’ project to develop, implement and evaluate innovative patient safety training for over 1000 junior doctors across 16 healthcare trusts.
Maria’s previous roles include Clinical Advisor to Bupa Health Dialog as part of the Chief Medical Officer’s scheme, during which she worked with PCTs and SHAs to support delivery of World Class Commissioning. She held an additional advisory role to World Health Organisation Patient Safety, developing training materials to advance patient safety research. She has served as Student Advisor to Modernising Medical Careers, was Board Member of BAMMbino (junior doctor division of the British Association of Medical Managers) and is currently a member of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management's (FMLM) Trainee Steering Group.
