Nafisa-Katrin Seich al Basatena

I am a PhD student at the Department of Immunology on a Wellcome Trust scholarship. I have completed my undergraduate studies on Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences at the National Technical University of Athens. My postgraduate studies include an MSc in Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing at Oxford University and an MSc in Bioinformatics and Theoretical Systems Biology at Imperial College. My research focuses on genetic factors involved in viral infections and mathematical modelling of T cell immune responses in vivo. I am particularly interested in HLA class I genes and their impact on the outcome of viral infection. I study several viruses such as the hepatitis C virus, the Human T-Lymphotropic virus type I and the Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
