Miss Noor Mohd Naim
Noor Mohd Naim (Faizah) is a PhD student at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London.
She graduated from Imperial College with Honours Degree in Biotechnology BSc (2.1) in 2009 under a scholarship awarded by the Brunei government, which subsequently funded her MRes and PhD courses.
In 2010, she completed the MRes in Biomedical Research, which she was awarded with Merit. Her first project placement was to work in Professor Miguel Seabra's lab looking at the guanine nucleotide exchange factor for Rab27. In her second placement in Dr Vania Braga’s lab, she worked on investigating the interplay between Armus, Rac1 and Rab7 in tumour progression.
Currently, Faizah is studying under the supervision of Dr Vania Braga as a PhD student working on the regulation of cell scattering by Armus during tumour progression. Her main focus is to investigate whether blocking Armus function in tumour cell lines may restore cadherin-mediated adhesion and partially reversing tumour dedifferentiation and progression.
